Community Gardens Programme.
PLANTING and GROWING;
Adactus our local Housing Association and YPAC are joining forces to get young people growing. YPAC will be running allotment sessions at both Holland St Gardens and Chippenham Road Gardens. Funded by botht the National Lottery Big Lottery and Adactus, Kelly one of our Youth Workers and local resident Sonya who chairs the Community Gardens Steering committee will be working together on the weekly sessions with young people who live near both gardens. There’s even talk of getting some Chickens!
Holland St sessions will be every Tuesday from 3pm.
Chippenham Road will be every Wednesday from 3pm too.
HARVESTING, COOKING AND EATING
Soon to start, we will be supporting a weekly cooking programme based at Miles Platting Community Library- Victoria Mill Community Centre. The weekly sessions will begin after the garden session finishes on Wednesdays. Hopefully we will be able to take some veg from the gardens to then cook and enjoy.
Making the link between growing and eating is the essential element of this programme. Local members of the community, Dot and Jean will be leading the cooking sessions who are also involved in the community gardens.
